FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Curriculum and Teaching in the School of Education of Hunter College-CUNY invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position in Educational Leadership to be effective Fall 2024. Appointment to the position will be at the Clinical Professor level.
While Hunter has two educational leadership programs, both of which lead to School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL) certifications, this position is in our non-traditional Collaborative Leadership Advancing School Success (CLASS) program, which is grounded in Strategic Inquiry and continuous improvement. CLASS is a clinically rich program, embedding coursework and fieldwork seamlessly as participants lead change at the student, adult, and system levels within their own schools beginning with the first semester. CLASS is a cohort model led by the same instructor, fully integrating related concepts, such as law and state policy, into core fieldwork/internship assignments. There is a special focus on developing collaborative leadership for equity-driven improvement. The selected candidate should be willing and able to teach in and provide program leadership in the CLASS program. The teaching load is 24 credits per academic year (8 courses), with some load credits likely being assigned for program coordination and administration. The selected candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses in the CLASS program; know and/or learn our model of continuous improvement; co-lead the program with a faculty colleague; develop and maintain relationships with the NYCDOE and other local school districts and relevant organizations; conduct site visits to schools and other partners; recruit and support part-time instructors; support curriculum review and development; advise graduate students; and serve on department, school, and college committees.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice in education. The college is strongly committed to achieving excellence through recruiting diverse candidates with regard to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation and other historically under-represented groups. We also seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and inclusion in urban educational settings.
